Happy Mardi Gras!

We celebrated Mardi Gras this weekend with the Endymion parade in New Orleans. We staked out our spot early, picnicked, played, then watched the parade. The weather was absolutely perfect! We had a wonderful time wearing silly hats, eating cotton candy, and scrambling to catch beads, doubloons, and all sorts of other treats thrown our way!
There are a lot of pictures here, but I couldn't narrow them down!

I made matching outfits for Anne Parks and Maggie, but I never seemed to be able to get them both to stand still at the same time to get a good picture.

Down from our spot on Canal was a church with restrooms and a playground. We took advantage of both!

Aaron surprised us with a silly-string attack. As you can see, Anne Parks was not amused. She was shouting, "My daddy! My daddy!"

Grandma and Aunt Kay had matching outfits, too!

"Throw me something, mister!"

The parade's grand marshal was Kid Rock. Jason snapped this pic just as he was throwing me a bead. After I caught it, I got a point and a wink! I guess Kid isn't above hitting on a pregnant woman!

Halfway through the parade, the girls started looking pretty droopy. They'd rest between floats; then get a second wind when another came along.
It was finally all too much, and both drifted off to the land of "sleep and dreams" (coincidentally, the theme for this year's parade).

We can't wait for next year!

Be Mine

Anne Parks had a great time getting ready for Valentine's Day. Not only did she take a valentine for each of her friends, she was also responsible for the treat bags for her class's Valentine's Day party. She picked Mickey Mouse and princess cards for her friends and loved "writing" on each of them. Then, we filled goody bags with lots of treats. She was so proud to take her treats to school.

Last weekend, we took Anne Parks to the rodeo. It was a great chance for her to wear the autographed shirt that Cousin Kaitlyn gave her for Christmas. She was so proud of it and thought she was a cowgirl - too bad she'd outgrown her red boots, then the look would have been complete.
This was the scene as we approached the fairgrounds. Cowboys on horseback at the drive-thru. I wish I could have seen the looks on the faces of the worker inside!
We saw hundreds of cows and horses, but Anne Parks was disappointed that we wouldn't let her pet them. Finally, we found something she could pet: these precious lab puppies.

Anne Parks (in her sunglasses) had a hard time leaving those cuties.
We ended the day in the trade mart with the antique tractor show. What a day! We can't wait until next year!

Playing on a Hill

After Maggie's party, the girls had a ball playing on this big, green hill with Grandma.

Future Gymnast? Olympic Diver?

This is my favorite picture of Baby McQueen.
That's her foot just above her head with her legs stretched out in front of her face!

A Weekend with Sophie

A few weekends ago, we visited our friends Katie and Sophie in Baton Rouge. We played and went to the zoo and had wonderful time.

When it started to rain, we ran and took shelter on this covered bench. Sophie and Anne Parks thought getting rained on was hilarious.
