Silly Mama!

Adjusting to getting two little ones ready for school and out the door by 6:40 each morning hasn't been easy. There's a lot of prep that goes into packing up my girls. Nora has to have bottles prepared and her diaper bag packed, and I have to make sure Anne Parks has everything she needs for the day, including her lunch that I put in her princess lunchbox. Those jobs don't seem too difficult in the light of day, but before my morning coffee's had time to kick in, I obviously have a little trouble.

Anne Parks got in the car after school the other day and said, "Mama, give me my lunchbox. I gotta show you somethin."

She squealed with laughter as she showed me that I'd packed Nora's paci with her lunch. "You're a silly mama!" she giggled. I agree.

School

Anne Parks loves school! She loves her uniform, too. I love that we don't have to worry about what to wear each morning.

Parents aren't allowed to get out at drop-off. Although very convenient, it was a little sad to watch her go in without me for the first time. She wasn't sad at all.

Sisters

Anne Parks loves holding her sister, and Nora loves it, too (most of the time).

A Day of Firsts, part 1

Monday was a very busy day full of firsts. In the morning, Anne Parks had her first day of K3 at JA. It was a short, introductory visit they call "tea party". We had juice and cookies and got to meet Anne Parks' teacher and the other kids in her class. She had a great time, but as you can see in the pictures, she was a little shy.

First, I showed Anne Parks where my office is, and then we wallked down to the K3 building.

Here she is...waiting for the tea party to begin.

She loved seeing her name on the table and finding it in other places throughout the room. This is her chair.

Anne Parks is in Ms. Brandon's Buzzin' Bees class.

Here's the hook for her bag and lunchbox.

I think the favorite of all the kids was the playground. Parents were having to drag them away when the party was over! Anne Parks didn't want to leave, either. She especially loved the cars.

We had a great time! The K3 program at JA is so cute.
This morning, I dropped her off alone for her first full day. I'll be posting about that soon.

A Day of Firsts, part 2

After the tea party, I met my mom and got Nora from her, and my two girls and I had our first lunch out. Next, we went to Jazzy Dancer and got Anne Parks her first pairs of ballet and tap shoes. She'll start her dance lesson in a couple of weeks. She told the lady at the store, "I love trying on shoes!"

A Day of Firsts, part 3

Our day concluded with a trip to the doctor's office for Nora's 6-week check-up (she's actually 7 weeks old) and her first set of shots. She was a trooper and only cried for a few seconds.

Here are her stats:
weight - 10 lbs. 9 oz. (65th percentile)
length - 23 3/4 in. (95th percentile)
head - 38 cm (50th percentile)
At 7 weeks, Nora:
-rolled over yesterday!
-recognizes Jason, Anne Parks, and me.
-swats at things.
-laughs, smiles, and coos.
-holds her head up well.
-is still waking up at 11:30, 2:30, and 5:30 each night.

A Whole New World

Anne Parks is still princess-obsessed. She entertained us on our way home from Starkville this weekend by singing to her Jasmine doll. Enjoy. I know Jason and I did!

Sturgis

On Saturday, we took our first roadtrip as a family of four to the Stugis South Motorcycle Rally just outside of Starkville. I'd always heard about the rally and seen the myriad bikers riding through Starkville each year, but I couldn't believe my eyes at just how many bikes were in the small town of Sturgis this weekend.
Jason and I are not bikers, but we made our way to Sturgis to spend some time with our friends Jessi and Creighton. They had booth selling t-shirts and posters (like this one we had in April). Their designs are great, and we had a great time shopping the booth and hanging out. I hope Jessi can talk Creighton into doing the Canton Flea Market!

Farmer Day

Anne Parks had "farmer day" at school last week. She was very proud of her overalls and pigtails!

Poor Libby

Libby had to visit the vet this week with a swollen ear. It turns out, she had an ear infection and shook her head so hard that a blood vessel burst. This is what she looked like when she returned home. After a good scrubbing, she's been hanging out inside and has finally figured out how to manuever with that cone on her head. It's so sad.

Personality

Nora has really changing. She doesn't look much like her sister anymore, and she's really starting to have a personality. She's smiling and cooing her little heart out.

Swimming with Uncle Drew

Andrew left for LA this morning. We're all a little sad, but very excited about his adventure. Anne Parks will certainly miss Uncle Drew. He surprised her at school this week. He and his friend, Kelly, picked her up and took her swimming. She had a great time. When she got home she told me, "Mama, I'm so happy! I've had a happy day!"
